postheadericon Blood Test Results

The vet just called me with Riley's blood test results.  She said overall her blood test was good.  Her liver values and kidney values were great.  She said her pancreatic values were a little elevated but that could be due to the diarrhea itself.

We're discontinuing her Rimadyl for 3 days to see if that's the cause and she's still on her chicken and rice diet.  She's also taking 25 mg of Metronidazole twice a day for at least a week to see if that helps clear it up.

I also just wanted to put out there that even though Riley's been having these loose, runny stools, she has not once pooped in the house.  Bad Chloe, on the other hand, pooped in my room a few days ago.  And peed in the house at least twice this week.  Sheesh!  We're not getting new carpet until Chloe dies is what Grandma and Grandpa always say.

Hope it gets sorted soon, When George as had loose poops, its chicken and rice for three days and a slow change of food, seams to get on top of it for a couple of months I think this time I have found a food that suits him. paws crossed

Riley we hope things clear up soon and the cause is from nothing than a little nasty bug. What a good boy you are to make sure you get outside, now Chloe is probably just worried about you.

I'm glad the test results came back clean. Any chance Riley has food allergies? Gus had loose (often mucous-covered) stools a couple of years ago and it was food allergies.

I bet she's loving that chicken and rice diet :) Give her an extra squeeze from us (and Gus). I know how stressful it is when they're not feeling well!

All of that sounds pretty good. Hope the break from Rimadyl helps. We had a tough time with Ciara when she first came here, but it took the grain free food to cure the problem. She also gets a dollop of plain yogurt on her kibble every morning, and occasionally a dollop of pumpkin at night. Hope things firm up soon.

One of my pack members, April the Hairless, was having severe problems wit da runs for just over a year. She even had exploratory surgery where the vet removed almost 8 inches of her intestines because they were hard and dry. The diarrhea continued even after the surgery and a diagnosis of Inflammatory Bowel Disease. After a couple of months of eating "ID" food from the vet, she was transitioned to the Pedigree Healthy Digestion canned food. The diarrhea is completely gone now and she is once again able to eat anything without a problem. So hang in there. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

Glad her blood tests were good. I have been having some problems myself this week, but I think it is related to stress. Hope everything is back to normal soon.

Hope you can get it all figured out. Rimadyl does have some side effects, but it is also possible that the dog food formula changed or something.
